Thanksgiving

“In everything give thanks:for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”1Thessalonians5:18

A grateful heart matters a lot to God. When gratitude flows from a grateful heart, it becomes pleasing to God. You need to understand this, everyday we have a reason to be grateful to the Lord. When you think about salvation alone, thanksgiving should proceed out of your mouth. How much more the gift of life everyday!

The Psalmist says in Psalm 103:1-5 “Bless the LORD,O my soul: and all that is within me,bless His holy name.Bless the LORD, O my soul and  forget not all His benefits:Who forgiveth all thine iniquities;Who healeth all thy diseases;Who redeemeth thy life from destruction;Who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things;so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

As you can see, verse one says everything within us should appreciate God and be grateful to Him and not forget all His benefits. Being alive in Him and still breathing the air He provides is a good enough reason to be thankful. Think of this for example: if you are looking for a job, don’t complain, thank God that you are a candidate for a job. Are you aware that there are people at this moment who are fighting for life? They are not even thinking of jobs!

The Bible says in everything give thanks because your tomorrow will be far better than today! If you will look to Him and say to your soul, “Soul, forget not His benefits and goodness” and you engage in heartfelt thanksgiving,He will make your tomorrow secured. Thanksgiving lifts you up. When you are grateful to God, you cannot be grounded in life.

God always shows up to the grateful to make them whole when their situation so requires. Remember the ten lepers: “And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him,Arise,go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.” Luke 17:15-19

Therefore, give thanks to God for all that He has done in your life and He will perfect the remaining. He that has begun a good work in your life is able to finish it. “Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Phillipians1:6

access to wholeness

“And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.(Luke 17:11-19)

Anything you do in the kingdom that is not attached with thanksgiving yields no result, no completion or multiplication. Thanksgiving guarantees your access to wholeness. As you can see with one of the lepers who came back to give Him thanks who received his total healing as a result of his gratitude. “And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.“ (Luke 17:19)

Even when a prayer lacks thanksgiving it is not complete, that is why the Bible says: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.“ (Philippians 4:6).

“Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.“(Colossians 4:2) You must understand this, giving thanks to God is giving Him all the glory; and remember He will never give His glory to another. “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.“ (Isaiah 42:8)

People don’t know what they are missing when they are not giving thanks to God. That is why many still have needs. You must learn to be grateful to God! In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1.Thessalonians 5:18).

It is the will of God, and when you do His will who can harm you? Or what can harm you? Thanking God simply means total surrender to His authority, His word and His will! It is showing that He is the Lord of all. Thanksgiving is one of the greatest keys in the Kingdom of God. If you are grateful to God you cannot be stranded in life. Remember the 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes multiplied only with thanksgiving in the hands of Jesus!

In Life Kingdom Church this month we are accessing the importance as well as the benefits of thanksgiving.

Don’t miss it for anything!

God bless you
